Garden in October

30 x 40 inches
I took a good look at my garden area in October and although quite different than springtime, it was filled with mystery and intrigue.

Mending the Curtain

Using my dining area and myself as model I painted this over many sessions. I did have to photograph (set camera up on tripod with timer) to get the position of my hands.  They, of course, are backward in the mirror which was positioned on a chair in front of table. Also had to wait for those special days when the light spills into the room in a lovely way.  18 x 24 oil

Bridge at Benbow

The plein air group painted by the bridge behind Benbow....one of my favorite spots.  It was very cold.  8 x 10 on stretched canvas.

Wayta Chanin and Plant

We painted inside and this type lighting 'contre jour' ...against the light is a favorite of mine.  Her billowy white sheer curtain behind her simplifies the darks.  8 x 8 on linen panel.

Marci In Her Living Room

8 x 6 inches oil on canvas panel.  Our plein air group decided on an interior...the weather was iffy.
Marci modeled for us.  I couldn't make out exactly what many items were but just painted the shapes I saw.  The massive urn was something very old from Turkey, I think, and used to brew tea. The lamp above was a floor lamp but I didn't like how it spliced the figure and beautiful chair so left that part out.  I have no idea what all the stuff on the table was.  Rich interiors like this really interest me and especially when red is explored. This painting is at auction on DailyPaintWorks.  For more information or to bid click here  sold
