Marci In Her Living Room

8 x 6 inches oil on canvas panel.  Our plein air group decided on an interior...the weather was iffy.
Marci modeled for us.  I couldn't make out exactly what many items were but just painted the shapes I saw.  The massive urn was something very old from Turkey, I think, and used to brew tea. The lamp above was a floor lamp but I didn't like how it spliced the figure and beautiful chair so left that part out.  I have no idea what all the stuff on the table was.  Rich interiors like this really interest me and especially when red is explored. This painting is at auction on DailyPaintWorks.  For more information or to bid click here  sold

Road Behind Benbow

6 x 8 inches oil on canvas panel.  I'm really liking these panels (Shark) which I got through ebay.  They accept paint in a most pleasant way.  It's hard to explain....They are only cotton but are so fine weaved they seem like linen.  This is the first in a series I've planned for Benbow.  I paint a 6 x 8 first and then on to a bigger if I like it.  This is early morning light. My Place Mid day

I've been painting every day outside to improve my plein air work.  I find it exhausting and exhilarating.  When it's going good I'm exhilarated and when it's not I'm exhausted.  The sun was beating down but I had an umbrella.

Old Friends

This Tercel and Nissan Pickup are like old friends and I hate to see them go but you can only keep old rigs in the yard so long.  They were a blast to paint and challenged my drawing skills.....A tree can be fudged a little but not cars.

Oaks at Community Park

I realized after starting with the panel vertical the characteristics of the oak are better suited for the horizontal....so I wiped it out (always hurts a little) and painted it on the horizontal.  I'm wondering if I should have included figures to show the massiveness of the trees.  Firemen were playing Frisbee in the adjacent field and there were painters under the trees but I couldn't see them clearly so I left them out.
